John 8:12-20

Talking about light these days seems to be a matter of general interest. By light, we can also mean strength and heat, energy, underground resources, etc. Light is indispensable for human life. We are all afraid of the dark; everyone likes light, regardless of age, gender, and social status, because light is life. Jesus says: “I am the light of the world.” Isaiah, long before the coming of Jesus, wrote: “The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light.” It is not a light tied to energy resources or the natural environment. Seeing this light is not like a flash of lightning on the horizon, but a perennial light to illuminate all peoples. Jesus is light for all who believe in Him. He is the very inexhaustible source of light. Those who have accepted him as Saviour and Lord will not walk in darkness, because the light will be on their path, and within them, and they will not falter in the midst of the thick darkness of confusion, because Jesus will enlighten them.

Believers themselves must be light in this world of darkness and religious confusion. Paul says, “They will be lights of the world.” The light of Christ reflected in believers. The energy resources that provide strength, heat, and light are depleted or lacking. This can also manifest itself in those who, while attending the pews of a church, remain without light, because they distance themselves from the source of light, the one who said, “I am the light of the world.” Our light, church, must grow until it is a perfect day. Before you, there is no danger of energy exhaustion; go forward, let the light you have received, and which you continually receive, shine. It will not fade if you live close to Jesus. He said, “I am the light of the world,” and also told his followers, “You are the light of the world.” So, let the light of Jesus shine before men.
